Affordable Art
Finally, some lovely pictures of a handful of our available frames have gone online. Matt is making away as we speak replenishing our stock, whilst I shoot the little we have left.

Prints are all limited editions, and the frames are reclaimed and revived, which means each lovely package is unique.

Photos are currently coming from our travel and adventure albums. From the woods of Wales to places that will have to stay just that little bit secret. Doors, windows, wall art and wanders, all bearing a common theme...rust, rot or romance.

but be patient, they will be on Folksy soon!x

As I browse online looking to buy some paper bags in which to send away my creations to their new homes, I think, surely there is another way. Making my own 'carrier bags' always seemed to labour intensive, but I think I have now been converted!
Check out: 'Bags for the People', a great little initiative, sharing skills, information and doing their bit for an ongoing problem.

From now on, Piebird will be making their own simple carrier bags from recycled bed linen.

So, I better get making then. Ta'ra for now.x

Piebird is proud to announce its FIRST internet sale! We are well and truly getting into the flow of this now, and loving it, and hope the new proud owner of 'Lady Indiana' enjoys the fruits of the piebird love and labour. Thank you x

No Posts for a while...Oops. Must have been entranced on the Singer, sewing away.

Well, a busy summer of fairs is in full flow! A recent little break has allowed some more focus to go on the FOLKSY SHOP... and website, and stocking up on more lovely vintage materials and goodies. I am itching to get rooting around some quirky flea markets and start picking up bits and bobs on my travels to re-make into some beaming new bags!

I have a fascination with maps, new, old, and ancient. The paper they're on, the details they hold, and the way they change over political time. When I pick up old map and find say, Iran down as Persia (amongst other significant changes to the world as 'I' know it, and of course the only way 'I' could ever conceive it to be) spirits up a little giggle and goof, as if I had just seen a stranger changing their trousers or some other childish idiosyncrasy.

Which is why it was pretty pleasing to see a modern take of maps and landscape art, in the work of Steven Walter, who has taken the personal, historical, and canny look at 'the map', illustrated be-au-tifully!

just LOOK (closely) at his website!

Some playful Hockney-esque experimentation inspired by a sunday stroll. More to be experimented with in due course.
Chapel Porth/Wheal Coates -St Agnes, Cornwall. Just one of its many beautiful guises.

Re-invigorated, Simple shelters (below) also lead me to a wonderful place called TIBA...an intuitive technology and bio architecture centre near Rio de Janeiro.

have a look at www.tibarose.com

After the joy of staying at Larkhill Tipis last week in the Ger, a beautiful little book 'Simple Shelters' fell into my hands, leaving me inspired and reconnected with my passion for the indigenous and ancient architecture...and the basic principles for the ideal modern home. check it out!

Not wanting to really give away a secret gem but next time your planning a getaway with friends or alone - I challenge anyone not to love this place... www.larkhilltipis.co.uk
